Top 5 Best Hotels in Downtown Salt Lake City 2021
Spending a weekend in Salt Lake City? Whether you’re looking to explore some of the country’s most unique landscapes, experience the thrill of a day on the slopes at one of the 8 world-class ski resorts less than an hour away, or just explore a city overflowing with historic sites, local spots, and a bustling nightlife, here are the top 5 best hotels in downtown Salt Lake City for your stay:
The Grand America Hotel
Coming in our number one spot is The Grand America Hotel located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. To start off, The Grand is by far the most luxurious hotel in the entire Salt Lake Valley. The architecture and the design set it far apart from the rest of the hotels on this list. Throw in the hand-crafted decor and furniture and you cannot go wrong with staying at a seemingly Parisian hideaway. It has multiple restaurants located in the hotel as well as a famous pastry shop located within. The location of The Grand is also hard to beat. Located near the center of downtown it is extremely close to all the restaurants and bars that downtown Salt Lake City has to offer, as well as Temple Square and City Creek which is only 5 blocks away. It is also easy to get to the freeway from the hotel so you can quickly get up to Park City in 35-45 minutes and explore it in the wintertime or summertime!

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco
The Kimpton Hotel Monaco ranked the #2 hotel in Salt Lake City last year according to U.S. News & World Report. So, similarly, the Hotel Monaco takes our number two spot. This is for a great reason. Located just one block from the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center, Hotel Monaco is very popular with those traveling from out of town for conventions here in Salt Lake City. In addition, its central position in the heart of downtown SLC makes it very close to Vivint Smart Home Arena to catch a Utah Jazz game, or City Creek Center to visit your favorite retail stores in a high-end mall integrated within downtown. Hotel Monaco also offers a fantastic restaurant on its ground-floor that is a must-stop for brunch, even when you aren’t staying at the hotel.

Little America Hotel
Finding its place in the middle of our list is the classic Little America Hotel. Located across the street from The Grand America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, Little America is one of the more well known hotels in the state. Built in 1952 it is the older sister of the Grand America Hotel, and it is just as unique as its younger sibling. Known for their superior service to their guests, the Little America is ready to pamper you. It has an older rustic feel as it is an older hotel but it still has all of the beauty. It has been redone to accommodate for the changes in the times and suits it well. This is a perfect place to stay if you are just coming in for a trip by yourself, with friends, or with your family as they have the biggest outdoor pool in all of Salt Lake City. It is also a great destination for corporate meetings and conferences as Little America has a multitude of conference and meeting rooms ready to be rented out to whoever may need.

The Peery Hotel by Hilton
Coming in at 4th place is The Peery Hotel by Hilton. If you are looking for an authentic Utah experience within your budget, consider staying at this 3-star historical landmark. Originally built in 1910, this charming hotel offers boutique rooms and luxurious on-site dining, all while being conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Salt Lake City. This hotel also doubles as the perfect stay for the foodies in your life. Enjoy countless dining and bar options, all within walking distance. We recommend Squatter’s Pub right across the street for a Utah brewery experience. Down the street, give Arempa’s a try for late-night authentic Venezuelan cuisine. If that’s not your thing, get your shop on at City Creek Center, only a 10 minute walk away from Peery.

AC Hotel Salt Lake City
At the end of our rankings and in very close proximity to the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, is the AC Hotel Salt Lake City. One of the newest additions to the Salt Lake City skyline, the AC hotel offers very modern rooms throughout. Being that this is a Marriott-owned hotel, the AC tends to be cheaper than Hotel Monaco located just about a block and a half to the east. Though this hotel lacks many of the great amenities that some of the more pricey options on this list might have, this location in the heart of downtown is amazing. The AC Hotel Salt Lake City leans heavily on the modern interiors and exteriors and does so very well. In addition to the fantastic location, being that it is owned by Marriott, it offers some familiarity to fans of Marriott as well as Marriott Bonvoy members the opportunity to redeem their points at this location. If you cannot justify the price of staying at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, the AC Hotel Salt Lake City is a fantastic alternative.
