The Best Half Marathons in Utah
The Great State of Utah has some of the most scenic half-marathons in the country. Utah’s steep mountain landscapes have created many downhill race opportunities so if you’re looking for a new PR you may want to consider one of the following half Marathons.
Bryce Canyon Half Marathon
Though this race does not take you directly through the national park, it runs adjacent to it and is one of the most beautiful races in Utah.
The race usually takes place in the Fall so you may want to start the race in warmer clothing, but by the end, you’ll be ready for some of that sweet chocolate milk. The Race has a total elevation loss of 1800 feet, but I don’t think this is a walk in the park. You will need some downhill training as those muscles will need some prep.
Revel Big Cottonwood Canyon
The REVEL Big Cottonwood Canyon Marathon and Half Marathon in Utah is an exhilarating event attracting global runners. Set amidst the breathtaking Wasatch Mountains, the race offers an unforgettable experience with a 5000 ft elevation drop (full marathon) and stunning autumn scenery. Organized by Revel Races, known for high-quality scenic races, participants can choose from a half marathon (13.1 miles) or full marathon (26.2 miles). The net downhill route allows for fast times, making it popular for setting personal records and qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Prepare physically and mentally for steep sections, elevation changes, and sweltering final stretches. Enjoy post-race camaraderie and explore Utah’s attractions.
The Haunted Half Marathon
This is not your typical half Marathon. In the Haunted Half Marathon, you can join thousands of runners dressed up in their Halloween best. This family-friendly event begins in Emigration Canyon and ends near sugar house park. There is also a Provo version if you are located in Utah County. This race is hosted by Runtastic.
Utah Valley Half Marathon
Utah Valley Marathon and Half Marathon are consistently ranked as one of the best races in the country. This is due to its unmatched scenery that brings you down to the beautiful Provo Canyon across waterfalls and through historic downtown Provo. If you’re looking for a unique half marathon with no turns you should check out the Utah Valley Half Marathon!
The Dino Half Marathon – Vernal
This small half marathon routes through stunning Dry Fork Canyon near Vernal, Utah. The race features a “Sprintasaurus Competition” for runners try to be the fastest racer over a half mile stretch. The course is fast and many PR due to the amount of downhill sections and rolling hills. It is one of the most beautiful courses in Utah and is well supported for a race of its size. Also, since the race is hosted by Runtastic, you can “Triligize” with this race and two other Runtastic events under your belt.
