Professional Sports Teams in Utah
If you are ever in Salt Lake for business or pleasure there are professional sports teams in Utah to see all year round. After all, you can’t ski or hike all day every day. So after experiencing the Sundance Film Festival, take a break and enjoy some of our world class venues and championship franchises in your down time.
Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz are the pride and joy of Utah when it comes to professional sports. They have been part of the state’s culture for almost 40 years and have been one of the most successful franchises in the NBA during that period. Although they have not won a Finals championship, they are regularly in the playoffs and have a home court advantage that is unparalleled in the NBA and needs to be seen to be believed. So if you find yourself in Salt Lake City any time from October to April, the Vivint Smart Home Arena in downtown Salt Lake is definitely something you should see.
If you would like more information we have another page specifically dedicated to the Utah Jazz here.
Utah Grizzlies
However, if you are here during the winter months and basketball is not your thing, then we also have a professional hockey team. The Grizzlies have been chirping in Utah for almost 15 years and have made it to the playoffs nearly every season they have been here. So if you’re rearing to see a sieve get shot in the five hole then head on out to the Maverik Center in West Valley city, just 10 min from downtown and right off the freeway.
Real Salt Lake
The winter sports are great, but if you are visiting Salt Lake during the summer for the hiking and camping then our championship winning professional soccer team will be the team to watch. Real Salt Lake has been a consistent competitor in Major League Soccer and won the MLS Cup in 2009. They play from March to October at Rio Tinto Stadium which is just 15 minutes south of downtown Salt Lake City. Click here for more information on what to expect from the game day experience.
Salt Lake Bees
The Bees represent Salt Lake City in America’s favorite past time and have been playing here since the mid 90’s. They play from April to September and frequently have a fireworks show after their games. We have also been fortunate enough to have some pretty talented players come through Salt Lake, such as David Ortiz and Tim Lincecum. So come on out to Smith’s Ballpark, just minutes from downtown Salt Lake, and check out our beloved baseball team.
