7 Fun Fall Activities for Families Visiting Utah
Utah is known for being a favorite winter destination where families come to ski or snowboard the greatest snow on earth. Home to 5 National Parks, spring and summer are also great times to visit the Beehive State. However, fall in Utah is not something you want to miss and offers you and your family lots of fun options. Below are seven of the fun fall activities for families visiting Utah.
1. Pumpkin Days at Wheeler Farms
Need a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween in Murray, Utah? Look no further than Historic Wheeler Farm! Pumpkin Days are fast approaching so mark your calendar. Pumpkin days starts on September 25th and runs until October 31st, 2020. The hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sundays. This one is not a free event but your $10 admission fee includes access to the Playland, Maze, and a Wagon or Cow Train ride. Go on Tuesdays for a $2 discount. Groups of 50 or more people get a group rate of $8 a person. The pumpkin patch is not included in the admission fee but pumpkins are priced according to size ranging from $2-$20.

2. Thanksgiving Point Harvest Festival
Thanksgiving point is a family staple any time of the year but in the fall, be sure to check out their Harvest Festival! The festival this year will be held at Thanksgiving Point’s Electric Park on Saturday, October 26th, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event has free admission with access to vendors, both produce and artisan, music, and you can’t miss the 16th annual giant pumpkin weigh-off! There will also be contests for the largest gourds, tomatoes, and watermelons. Don’t miss out on all the fun! Electric Park is located in Lehi, Utah just off of state route 15. Don’t forget to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
3. Haunted Halloween Haven
No fall trip to Utah is complete without visiting a haunted house. And what makes this haunted house even better is that it is free for the entire family. Even if you wanted to pay, donations are not accepted so leave your wallet in your pocket! While the Haven is “spooky” children accompanied by an adult do just fine. The Haunted Halloween Haven walkthrough will be open October 28th through October 31st, 2020 from 7:00 to 9:30 PM. Whatever the weather, the Haven will we running so dress accordingly. Don’t want to do that walkthrough? Don’t worry, there is an outdoor projection show that runs from October 1st to the 31st! What a perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.

4. WitchFest at Gardner Village
If you have never been to WitchFest at Gardner Village you and your family are in for a real treat! Gardner Village is a small group of locally-owned shops and restaurants. During the month of October, the “village” is transformed into a Halloween paradise. Witches abound throughout the grounds and send you on a scavenger hunt of fun. The witch hunt starts on September 19th, 2020, and runs until Halloween. Get your masks ready and stay socially distanced, please! There are so many extra events that are offered during WitchFest. 5. Evermore Park
Evermore Park is a one-of-a-kind immersive experience for the whole family! Open year-round, Evermore transports families to a land of fantasy, filled with knights, dwarves, and faeries. You and your family can dance to fanciful music, enjoy delicious food at the tavern, and explore all the park has to offer. Starting in mid-September and running through October, the park is transformed into a haunted Halloween village “visited” by a mysterious village full of creatures and curiosities. The park runs most weekends and other specified days, so be sure to check their website to see their calendar and purchase your tickets ahead of time. So don your finest cloak and be transported to a world of magic at Evermore Park!

6. Pumpkin Train
A staple of good family fun in Utah Valley, the historic Heber Creeper turns into the Pumpkin Train every fall and offers families an opportunity to take a 40-minute, round-trip ride through scenic Heber Valley. Arrive early and visit the family-friendly haunted car where you can get your kiddos a Halloween sticker. All riders receive a delicious pumpkin cookie and are entertained by costumed crew members. When the ride is over, don’t forget to grab your pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to take home with you! Visit their website to select your ride date and purchase your tickets.

7. Alpine Loop
Utah is a wonderland of adventure all year round and fall is no different! If you and your family want to get out and enjoy the beauty of fall in the Beehive State, the scenic Alpine Loop is sure to delight. The 20-mile drive can be started from either end, but we suggest you start from American Fork Canyon and head South, exiting via Provo Canyon. If you’ve got the time, pack a picnic and take a little rest at Cascade Springs, which can be accessed along the loop. You will need to purchase a recreation pass if you plan on stopping to hike. Utah’s fall foliage is one of our best-kept secrets, and fun for the family, so make sure you pack a camera!
